In order to assure a good safety pattern of work that reduces risks of labor accidents, fire and explosion, disease spread by lack of hygiene and pollution, TRICONTINENTAL OIL SERVICES LIMITED (TOSL) has instituted a safety policy. The aim of this manual is to alert all those operating on job sites to improve worker’s health, safety and environmental conditions. The manual also defines the responsibilities of HSES officers and obligation of workers. It is however approved by the Management of TOSL and it is according to National and International Standards.
Every staff must read, understand and adhere to TOSL policies regarding HSES. The employees must plan and perform his day’s work in accordance to these policies. An activity has to be suspended when the employees believes that it cannot be carried out in accordance with the policy and must report such activity to his immediate supervisor or sectional head.
To uphold the pursuance of HSES safety awareness by all TOSL staff. A bold step has been taken to sustain HSES meetings and safety training of all level of workers and interchange of safety ideas and experiences that will uplift HSES awareness.
To conduct our activities in such a manner that will reduce accidents and situations, which have potentials to cause injury to personnel and/or damage to equipment and materials.
To suspend all activities identified as unhealthy, unsafe or environmentally destructive until acceptable solutions are found.
To ensure medical fitness of our staff for the task they are undertaking; strict adherence to company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy will be enforced. No staff will be allowed to work without prior certification of medical fitness.
To make health, safety and environment an integral part of TRICONTINENTAL OIL SERVICES LIMITED business.
To put in place adequate security for life and properties.
HSES MESSAGE TO ALL EMPLOYEES BY THE MANAGING DIRECTOR.
This message is to draw attention to every TRICONTINENTAL employee, contractors and workers in our areas of operation, that Safety, Health, and the Welfare of employees are the company’s great concern.
It is the policy of TRICONTINENTAL to conduct its operations in such a manner that the safety, health and welfare of its employees and others who may be affected are protected, and as well as the environment were we operating. Our company makes it an essential part of all Managers responsibility to make adequate provision for safe work methods and safe work practices, as well as to provide the correct personnel protective materials, correct equipment and tools for use.
On the part of all workers in the areas of operation, including TRICONTINENTAL staff or contractor, there is a need to prevent and minimize injury to yourself and others. Safety is a matter of cooperation and common interest; therefore, the total involvement of all levels of management, individual employee and contractors is very necessary for the safety and happiness of all. It is, therefore recommended that everybody observes strictly safety practices, procedures and rules. Management shall continue to reward good safety conducts as well as frown at unsafe practices.
It is the policy of TRICONTINENTAL OIL SERVICES LIMITED to conduct all its operations in such a manner that will ensure Health, Safety, Environment and Security.
To implement this policy the company will not only comply with requirements of the relevant legislation but also promote in an appropriate manner measures for safeguarding persons, properties and the environment.
There will be maximum cooperation with all appropriate government agencies and other organizations on issues related to enhance HSES in Nigeria.
